There are lots of misconceptions among common Muslims about this month.
The post is intended to give a true Islamic perspective to get benefit from the precious time Allah has given us.
there are some does and some don’ts like other months in Shaban.
Does:
- Fasting: it is a Sunnah to fast most of the days in this month, as Prophet Muhammad was used to fast most of the days or all days of Shaban.
- Refrain from Bigger Sins: one should always refrain from the scenes but in these special days we should avoid all the scenes specially the major sins.
- Recite Quran: many sahaba and Tabieen were reciting Quran in this month more than other times and once Shaban entered they were calling that the month of Quraa (Quran reciters) has come.
Don’ts:
Waking for prayer specially in 15th night.
Fasting specially on 15th day of Shaban.
Special visit to graves and graveyards at that night.
Special prayers “Prayer of Khair”
Fireworks, candle lighting etc
Cooking special food on 15th night or day, like halwa poori etc.
Celebrating Shab e Barat.
Taking wrong refernece from Lailatul Mubaraka to this night. while lailatul mubarakah is the same night as Lailatul Qadr. its just another name.
